Blog > Everything Is Figureoutable
I forgot the tent when we went camping this week, me and two little kids out in the woods. I almost turned around and went back, but my daughter was pretty adamant about how we could sleep under the stars and figure it out.
Luckily, I had packed a rain canopy with no sides, so we made it work. My favorite moment came once everything was set up and my son said, "See, we always figure things out." I won't lie, it was stressful there for a minute. But if there's one thing I want to teach my kids, and my clients, it's that everything really is figureoutable.
The only reason we were able to figure it out is because I had the foundation well prepared. We had a tarp, sleeping pads and sleeping bags (very expensive), and an extra waterproof blanket to go on top. I had checked the weather, and I knew it was supposed to be 80°.
You can't always control the unexpected. What you can do is prepare well and trust that you'll handle whatever comes up. That's how I want my clients to feel: fully prepared.
When I meet with a buyer, we don't just go look at a house first thing. I teach them about the process. They get pre-approved. We have micro-learning lessons all about the process. They review the contract so they know what they're going to be signing before they find the house that they love. That way, when the unexpected happens, we've set the foundation.
It's not that everything's going to be perfect. The road might be bumpy. These are complicated transactions, but my kids and my clients have confidence, knowing that everything is figureoutable. Thank you, Brené Brown, for that concept!
